Events
October 15, 2015

October 22, 2015, 6:30pm ET – 9:00pm ET

“The Raising of America” is a five-part documentary series that explores the questions: Why are so many children in America faring so poorly? What are the consequences for the nation’s future? How might we, as a nation, do better?

Please join the Center for American Progress’ Reel Progress film series, along with National Partnership for Women & Families and Parenting Journey, for a screening of “The Raising of America: The Signature Hour”—the first of five segments in the series—which covers all three of these questions. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion focusing on the issues of paid family and medical leave, quality and affordable child care, paid sick days, tax credits for working families, and higher wages, as well as an opportunity for audience Q&A.

Welcoming remarks:

Larry Adelman, Series Creator and Executive Producer for California Newsreel

Panelists:

Dr. Renée Boynton-Jarrett, MD, ScD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Boston University School of Medicine

Judith L. Lichtman, Senior Advisor, National Partnership for Women & Families

Marcia St. Hilaire-Finn, Managing Director, Bright Start Childcare & Preschool

Moderator:

Melissa Boteach, Vice President, Poverty to Prosperity Program, Center for American Progress
