Launched in 2018 with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the interactive HOPE data initiative website was available before COVID as a resource to be used to raise expectations and drive actions that result in fewer health inequities.

Using an opportunity framework rather than a deficit one, HOPE data identifies where residents of individual states and the country are doing well and where states can do more to help residents be healthier. In doing so, HOPE calculates three important factors that help state and federal leaders, advocates, and other stakeholders shape policies and practices
