NCHE Opportunities

Program Consultant

The National Collaborative for Health Equity (NCHE) seeks a part-time Program Consultant to support its 18-month Culture of Health Leadership Institute for Racial Healing (CoHLI) program.  CoHLI is designed to shift narratives about racial hierarchy and expand the network of leaders, putting the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Strategic Framework (TRHT) into practice. Program participants will connect and build a national community of like-minded people to be nurtured in this work, support and serve as a resource to others, and gain tools and resources to hold public officials and private sector leaders more accountable for real progress.

The Institute uses the TRHT strategic process to guide the learning and practice of leaders’ experiences. The TRHT framework depicts a comprehensive approach to addressing racism as both a belief system that’s embedded and a structural legacy that requires a collective effort to overcome. The framework sees the foundational pillars of Narrative Change, Racial Healing and Relationship Building, Separation, Law, and Economy as central to impacting health and racial equity. Practitioners will focus on one of these five pillars of the TRHT strategic process. Leaders in the Institute build deep connections to achieve sustainable change collectively. Participants engage in internal and collective reflection, collective practice, and action. As a leader-led Institute, participants take co-ownership of the program and practice leadership within it. Although racial healing is in the program name, exploring all pillars is equally essential to understanding various social determinants of health of the TRHT framework and the interdisciplinary requirements needed to address them.

We anticipate a 6-8 month contract period beginning in January 2024. The program will bring on its third cohort of participants in May 2024. An overview of the project and what we’re looking for in a consultant is attached to this email. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, organized, and a multi-tasker. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to write clearly and concisely, put complex concepts into compelling and accessible products and materials, and be comfortable with technology and group facilitation through Zoom. The candidate will work independently and with a team and know the principles and practices related to the social determinants of health and racial equity.
