Dona Ana County, NM

Team Profile Summary

Instead of focusing on treating individuals, Doña Ana takes an upstream approach to advancing health equity. The team builds the capacity of communities to develop and implement policies and community-based solutions that improve social, economic, and environmental conditions that shape health and life opportunities. The goal is to implement Health in All Policies by creating structures that institutionalize informed, ongoing, and respectful community participation in the policy making process. Currently the team is conducting a participatory mapping initiative with community members in which they gather information about their communities and communicate it to policy makers.
