In this rapid time of healthcare transformation, leaders from health plans, hospitals and health centers will need to work together in the pursuit of value. Whether it’s interacting as part of accountable care organizations, or discussing innovative payment models and strategies, success will only be achieved if we come out of our silos and have meaningful discussions between all key healthcare stakeholders, including payers and providers of services.

As we continue our march towards health care reform and transformation, it will be essential for patients/members to understand how to utilize their benefits and navigate the health care system effectively, and critical for health care organizations to lay the foundation for success in population health, patient experience, patient safety, and transitions of care, among other areas, in an era of unprecedented accountability. Improving quality, eliminating disparities, and achieving equity are key ingredients in our pursuit of high-value, high-performance health care. Success will only be achieved if we have meaningful discussions between all key healthcare stakeholders, including payers and providers of services, and we share tools, skills and solutions.

The Healthcare Quality and Equity Action Forum sets the stage for this interdisciplinary dialogue. The Forum will provide the background, key drivers, and essential strategies to improve quality and achieve equity as we move towards access and accountability in a time of rapid health care transformation. Leaders from multiple disciplines and healthcare organizations—including those from health plans, healthcare systems, and children’s hospitals, to name a few—who work in the areas of quality and safety; disparities, diversity and equity; health policy; and health care design and delivery, will find the Forum to be a unique and highly valuable experience.
